:: Forgive my lull in blog action. My laptop crashed and I had a crisis trying to get it to turn back on again so I could save files – specifically the photos from Japan. Those’re important to me! All is well, now. So back to schedule! ::

I am now officially a member of the Schwab Squad! (I’m making that a thing.) I’m so glad and this was a fantastic book to start with. And then I hear her more recent books are even better? I can’t wait.

Recommended if you like:

  • fantastic characters and growth
  • some sass
  • psychometry and “bodies” made of memories escaping their library
  • baked goods
  • guyliner
  • keys that lead to different realms that are awesome

::THERE ARE NO SPOILERS FOR TRK, BUT WILL BE FOR PREVIOUS BOOKS::

OK. First, I want to get it off my chest that I liked it, but…I was also disappointed… *hides face* No, no, I shouldn’t be ashamed of it. Everyone is different!Black-Sheep resize I will say, however, that if I EVER sound like I am bashing on a book/someone with a differing opinion, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me. Because that is SO far from my intentions. I just like having discussions and sharing thoughts, seeing different opinions and such. So I will explain my disappointments below. BUT THIS IN NO WAY MEANS I DIDN’T LIKE IT AT ALL. Because I still did. I loved how the magic got scary in this one. It was so dark and grotesque. Our group has grown so much throughout this series and we see them at their finest here! THINGS HAPPENED. Shit got realer. Those first 2 books were definitely to set things up and events have taken place at a faster pace (heh, rhymed) in this one! Magic, tragedy, suddenness, songs, fear… New facets to this mystery. And the cliffhanger… I guess there’d be no 4th book if a huge PROBLEM doesn’t arise! Stupidity… I was very happy with the jump in pace and magical occurrences in this installment. I can’t wait to get my hands on The Raven King and see how this all ends…

DON’T DIE, GANSEY.

(And is this cover not GORGEOUS? It’s really quite simple, but green and blue are my 2 favorite colors, you can see the paint strokes, it’s all nature-y, gah! One of my favorite covers, ever.) Continue reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle #3) // Pynch?? and Epic Cavern Adventures!

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2) // More on Ronan and a Romance with a Hitman??

What a ride. The mystery grows ever larger. But we have new character development and another step closer to Glendower. Blue and her raven boys still make this story some to life. I really like all the different perspectives, even though that’s hard to pull off. I can’t say too much about the plot for this one due to its focus was on dreams, on Ronan and figuring out why Cabeswater disappeared, that’s basically it. Which is fine! It just doesn’t leave much room for various plot discussion. (I also am still trying to work on my own analyzing skills…very unskilled.) And this cliffhanger was bigger, but just as unexpected as the last! (Also, technically, I read this a couple of years ago, but I literally forgot everything except names. So we’re glossing over that detail.) Hey there, worms (of books)!

Okay. I’m late to the party, I know! I am just now reading The Raven Cycle, but sometimes with books I think I will enjoy, I like to wait until all books are available…bookworms are impatient worms. Though, I have a secret… I did read this book a few years ago… BUT I forgot, literally, everything that had happened aside from names of MCs, so it was like reading new all over again and I have plans for books I choose to re-read later, but for now! I just wanted to pretend I hadn’t read it in preparation for the finale. And I can’t wait to continue!

Read this if you like:

  • awesome characters with distinct personalities and a penchant for mischief & adventure
  • mystery & suspense
  • MAGIC (or at least the hint of a lot in this book)
  • sleeping, centuries-old kings
  • camaros
  • ravens

Penryn & The End of Days // Review of this Brutal World of Angels and Death

(This is a review I tried doing a while back on a previous blog that is now non-existent. I’m working on getting better!)

Author: Susan Ee

Publisher: Skyscape

Genre: young adult // supernatural > angels // dystopia

Angelfall synopsis for your curious minds. The next book’s are World After and End of Days.

I picked this up one day from my library because it sounded different from previous angel stories I’ve experienced, so I gave it a shot. I actually quite enjoyed it. Though, I can be a bit biased because I love unexpected brutality. If you read it, you’ll see what I mean. I like when authors throw readers for a loop and don’t hold back. So here are my thoughts on this series: Continue reading Penryn & The End of Days // Review of this Brutal World of Angels and Death
